Willshapers

The Willshapers are one of the ten orders of Knights Radiant, freedom-loving adventurers and champions of liberty and curiosity, wielding the Surges of Transportation and Cohesion. They are associated with the Herald Kalak and bond reachers (lightspren). In The Stormlight Archive, the order is among the less commonly seen, with figures such as the ancient Willshaper Venli's order-mates and modern bondings emerging during the war.

Surges

Willshapers command the Surges of Transportation and Cohesion. Transportation, shared with the Elsecallers, grants movement into and through Shadesmar, the Cognitive Realm. Cohesion, shared with the Stonewards, grants the power to manipulate the form and structure of solid matter, working stone and other materials as though they were malleable.

Ideals

After the shared First Ideal, the Willshapers swear further order-specific oaths bound up with the values of freedom, self-determination, and the championing of liberty for oneself and others. The order is characterized by an independent, adventurous, and somewhat eccentric spirit.

Spren

Willshapers bond reachers, also called lightspren, Spren who in Shadesmar are known for operating the ships that ply its bead-seas. Their character reflects the order's restless, exploratory nature.

Notable Members

The Willshapers are among the rarer orders in the present day of the Archive. The order's ethos of freedom and curiosity resonates with several characters drawn into the rebirth of the Knights Radiant at Urithiru.

Significance

The Willshapers add the values of freedom and exploration to the spectrum of the Knights Radiant, and their command of Shadesmar travel and stone-shaping makes them versatile agents in the struggle against Odium.
