House Kholin

House Kholin is the royal house of Alethkar, the ruling dynasty that united the Alethi princedoms and that stands at the center of the political and martial events of The Stormlight Archive. Seated at Kholinar, House Kholin produced King Gavilar, the unifier of Alethkar, and his brother Dalinar Kholin, the Bondsmith and architect of the coalition against Odium.

• Gavilar Kholin -- King who united Alethkar from its warring princedoms; assassinated by the Parshendi, an act that triggered the War of Reckoning.

History

House Kholin rose to dominance when Gavilar and Dalinar Kholin conquered and united the ten princedoms of Alethkar under a single crown. After Gavilar's assassination, the house led the Alethi to the Shattered Plains in the War of Reckoning. In the present day, Dalinar Kholin reforged the house's purpose around the rebirth of the Knights Radiant and the unification of Roshar's nations against Odium, making Kholin the keystone of the human coalition based at Urithiru.
