Edgedancers

The Edgedancers are one of the ten orders of Knights Radiant, graceful and swift, devoted to remembering the forgotten and caring for the overlooked, wielding the Surges of Abrasion and Progression. They are associated with the Herald Vedeledev and bond cultivationspren. In The Stormlight Archive, Lift is the most prominent Edgedancer.

Surges

Edgedancers command the Surges of Abrasion and Progression. Abrasion, shared with the Dustbringers, grants control over friction; an Edgedancer can make surfaces frictionless and slide across the ground with extraordinary grace and speed. Progression, shared with the Truthwatchers, grants power over growth and healing, allowing them to accelerate the growth of plants and to heal injuries.

Ideals

After the shared First Ideal, the Edgedancers swear oaths centered on attention to the ignored and the lowly. Their characteristic Ideals include:

• Second Ideal: I will remember those who have been forgotten.
• Third Ideal: I will listen to those who have been ignored.

These oaths reflect the order's compassion for the overlooked and the marginalized.

Spren

Edgedancers bond cultivationspren, Spren tied to the Shard Cultivation and to growth and life. Wyndle, bonded to Lift, is the most notable example.

Notable Members

Lift, a young street thief from Azir, is the foremost Edgedancer of the Archive, bonded to the cultivationspren Wyndle. The order's gracious traditions contrast with Lift's irreverent character.

Significance

The Edgedancers embody the Knights Radiant's call to protect and honor the least among society, and their combination of speed, grace, and healing makes them distinctive among the orders.
