Cultivation is one of the sixteen Shards of Adonalsium, embodying the divine intent of growth, change, and nurturing toward potential. Its Vessel is a woman named Koravellium Avast. Together with Honor, Cultivation came to Roshar and made it her home, opposing the destructive intent of Odium.
Nature
The intent of Cultivation centers on growth and the shaping of living things toward what they might become, sometimes through pruning and pain as well as nurture. Cultivation possesses a form of foresight, allowing her to perceive branching possibilities in the future, though imperfectly. She is associated with the spren and the natural, growing life of Roshar.
History and influence
Where Honor was eventually splintered by Odium, Cultivation survived by remaining hidden and indirect, working through patient, long-laid plans rather than open confrontation. She dwells in the Horneater Peaks at a place called the Valley, where seekers occasionally come to receive a boon and a bane from her.
Cultivation has shaped key figures in the conflict against Odium. Her interventions are subtle, often involving the granting of altered perception or capacity in exchange for a cost, reflecting her belief in growth achieved through hardship.
