The Reshi Isles
The Reshi Isles are a chain of islands off the northeastern coast of the Rosharan supercontinent, famous above all for the fact that many of the "islands" are in truth the backs of greatshells -- immense living creatures that drift slowly through the sea, bearing entire communities upon them.
Geography
The Reshi Isles lie in warm tropical waters and include both ordinary stone islands and the living islands formed by colossal greatshells. These titanic creatures, larger than any other animal on Roshar, move slowly through the sea while soil, plants, and even villages accumulate on their shells. The people of the isles live in harmony with these wandering giants.
Society
The Reshi people are organized into communities led by figures regarded with great reverence. They are known for their tattoos, their distinctive culture, and their relationship with the greatshells they inhabit. Their way of life is shaped by the slow migrations of the living islands and the bounty of the surrounding sea, and they stand apart from the Vorin traditions of the mainland.
Significance
The Reshi Isles exemplify the strange and wondrous ecology of Roshar, where life has adapted to the highstorms in extraordinary forms. The greatshells of the isles are kin in scale and nature to the chasmfiends hunted on the Shattered Plains, underscoring the unity of Roshar's bizarre natural order.
