He becomes the crew's cook, insisting on feeding everyone well and refusing -- by sacred conviction -- to carry a weapon or kill, instead supporting the bridge runs and battles in non-combat roles. His ability to see spren makes him an early witness to [[Kaladin]]'s emerging powers and to [[Sylphrena]].

As Bridge Four transforms into a Radiant squad, Rock is among those who breathe in [[Stormlight]], marking him as a potential [[Windrunners|Windrunner]] -- but his vow against killing keeps him from following the others fully onto that path.
